I was born in 1964, the end of the baby boomers and the beginning of Generation X. I have had this debate with my friends - who we are when we are born at the threshold of two are completely different age groups? My thesis is that it is not when we are born, but when we grow up, that our personality is defined. It is the key events, influential personalities and social changes of that time, the impact of our lives the most. And so I am of all points, a product of Generation X. And since I was aTeenager in the late 70s, early 80s, there is no question that music was my salvation. Not just any music in particular. In particular, the music of the late, great Michael Jackson.
There is not a song, sang the Michael Jackson that I did not know the words. I bought every album, had a backstage pass at his sold-out concert and was totally in love with his dance moves. He was really a symbol of a young girl growing up in the 80s. I loved his music videos, I His lyrics memorized and I could never understand why he kept changing his sexy looks. The baby boomers knew his music, but he did not like the way that we've done. And the Millennials (or Generation Y), downloaded their iTunes to their iPods, but they have not our "connection" to him. Shocked to hear the news? No doubt. He died too young. But sad to know that those of us who grew up love, dancing and singing, his music will never again see him perform is what Michael> Jackson 's death so tragic. How exciting it would have been to see him again in concert. And even more, to bring my teenage children for the ride!
For all of you define yourselves as Generation X'ers who grew up living conditions of the Michael Jackson experience, I hope, you can use words that I wrote from the heart to appreciate, to know how to pay homage to the King of Pop.
Michael Jackson 1958 - 2009
When a legend dies, the worldrecalls
What touches their heart and changed her life
What lifted the spirits and stir your soul
We have been transformed with your music
We were inspired by your energy
You have enriched us and we are honored
They have moved and we are grateful
When a legend dies, it is these memories
That you are alive
